Stuart joined the Association on 26th July 1963. Since then, Stuart has effectively served 31 years in an official capacity for the Association including a continuous 30 years as treasurer of the Victorian Branch.
In January 1965, Stuart was appointed co-ordinating editor of Journal and carried out this function for twelve months. In November 1972, Stuart took over the role of advertising manager from Rex Little, a position he filled until December 1979.
In March 1970, Stuart was elected treasurer of the Victorian Branch, a position that he holds to this day. Besides his exacting financial management of the branch, Stuart has served on the exhibition committee since 1970, managing income and expenditure as well as being one of the tree cashiers who operate the ticket box at the Moomba exhibition.
Stuart has entertained and demonstrated modelling techniques to the branch members with talks and articles in Journal on his pride and joy "The Mousehaven Railway", a significant timetable run home layout featuring British London Midland and Scottish railway practices. He has also been the branch auctioneer since 1981.
The Association has benefitted to a major degree from Stuart's enthusiasm and willingness to give freely of his time, management, and modelling abilities to further the aims and growth of our Association. Stuart was granted Honorary Life membership in 1979 and received a Meritorious award in 1982.
Stuart has demonstrated that advancement of the Association is one of the aims of productive membership. He never looks for recognition and over the years the branch has relied on his financial expertise and has never been let down.
