The 50th Anniversary Awards are a one off award that was presented in conjunction with the Association's 50th Anniversary Convention.
To be eligible to be granted the award, the nominated member must have met all of the following criteria at the time of being nominated:
a) renewed their membership for the 2000-2001 membership year (which included the 50th Anniversary of the Association on 18th May, 2001).
b) had been a member of the Australian Model Railway Association for a continuous period of at least ten years
c) for 'Member of the Branch Award' met at least one of the following conditions:
1) had previously received an honorary life membership
2) had served at least three years on the Branch COM
3) served at least three years in some other official capacity at a Branch level eg. Librarian
4) had previously received a major branch award
5) was the partner of a member who meets criteria 1, 2, 3, or 4d) for 'Member of the Association Award' met at least one of the following criteria
1) had previously received an honorary life membership
2) had served at least three years on the Federal COM
3) served at least three years in some other official capacity at a federal level eg. Editor
4) had previously received a meritorious award
5) was the partner of a member who meets criteria 1, 2, 3, or 4e) they were (or - if qualifying under 5c or 5d - their partner was) still actively involved in Association Activities at the time of the nomination.
The 'Member of the Branch' Awards were
determined by the Branch COM of the respective branches which could apply
any additional criteria they considered appropriate.
The 'Member of the Association' Awards were
determined by the Federal COM based on submissions made by the
membership.
The recipients of the awards received a plaque signed by
the Federal President. A write up of the ongoing
activities of each of the award winners (based on the submissions
received) was published in the issue of Journal following the
Fiftieth Anniversary Convention.
